During his formative years in Rome, at a time when opera was banned by papal decree, George Frideric Handel turned to the oratorio as his creative outlet. The result was Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (The Triumph of Time and Disillusionment), his very first oratorio and a shining jewel of the Baroque era.

This allegorical tale weaves together themes of beauty, temptation and the passage of time, all set to some of Handel’s most virtuosic and emotionally rich music. It’s a dramatic and philosophical journey, filled with dazzling arias and expressive depth - a true testament to the genius of a composer of his time.
