La Nuova Musica presents a radiant celebration of Handel, created exclusively for the Celebrate Voice Festival.

Few composers have matched the theatrical brilliance and emotional depth of George Frideric Handel. A master dramatist and consummate craftsman, Handel composed operas that traverse the full spectrum of human passion - erotic, tender, ecstatic, and anguished. His arias pulse with vitality, written for the greatest vocal virtuosi of his time, while his duets, often placed at moments of emotional climax, reveal the profound intricacies of love, longing and despair.

This specially curated programme offers a compelling juxtaposition of arias and duets drawn from some of Handel’s most iconic operatic masterpieces. Under the direction of David Bates, La Nuova Musica is joined by two of today’s most distinguished interpreters of Baroque repertoire: soprano Mary Bevan and countertenor James Hall, a native of Salisbury. Both artists bring exceptional artistry and insight to Handel’s vivid musical world.

Join us for an evening of expressive brilliance and vocal splendour, as we honour one of the greatest musical dramatists in history.
