Jane Gordon
Leader

Described as playing with ‘glowing conviction’ (Financial Times) and a ‘ravishing tone and depth of timbre’ (The Independent), Jane’s expressive and refined performances have won critical acclaim, establishing her as one of the leading violinists of her generation. Her multi-faceted career has a special focus on period instrument performance and incorporates solo recitals, chamber music, orchestral leading and directing orchestras from the violin.

Jane made her concertmaster debut under Trevor Pinnock for the Handel Halle Festival. She subsequently performed alongside him and soprano Lucy Crowe in two international chamber music tours, including live BBC Radio 3 broadcasts from the Wigmore Hall. Jane has since worked as guest leader with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, London Bach Society, Glyndebourne, European Brandenburg Ensemble, Early Opera Company, Korean National Opera and Casa da Musica. She recently performed as principal second with the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and is a member of English Baroque Soloists.

A passionate chamber musician, Jane is violinist of the Rautio Piano Trio with whom she is currently recording the complete cycle of Beethoven Piano Trios with fortepiano. Their first volume receiving multiple 4 and 5 star reviews. Jane also performs chamber music with Theatre of the Ayre and lutenist Elizabeth Kenny, which has included further concerts at the Wigmore Hall for BBC Radio 3.

Enjoying multiple international tours, radio broadcasts and recordings, Jane’s performances have taken her to all the major European concert halls such as Vienna Konzerthaus, Berlin Philharmonie, Milan La Scala and Amsterdam Conzertgebouw, and further afield to the Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House. Off stage, she has written articles published in the Gramophone, Classical Music Magazine and The Strad, and has given interviews on BBC Radio 3, World Service and Radio 4 on a variety of music-related topics.

Jane held scholarships at both the Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London, graduating with the highest awards. She then regularly attended the International Musician’s Seminar Chamber Music Festival in Prussia Cove (Artistic Director Steven Isserlis) meeting and playing with acclaimed musicians from around the globe. Jane is an associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
